Brussels is also not very pleased with the rapprochement between the two countries. Macron, for example, said on Friday that relations with China must not be based primarily on trade.
why not?
we base our relations with pretty much anywhere else primarily on trade
are we pretending we give a fuck now?

Other places have them too, but we seem to like them, apparently.

I ronically, we reimposed sanctions against a country who wanted to buy 100 jets from us, worth billions, but we roll back sanctions on a country too poor to buy 100 paper planes from us.

Keep in mind a succession of Chinese governments have been oppressing religious and ethnic minorities, particularly M
uslim ones for literal
centuries now. It’s not a new thing, but it has experienced
a resurgence in the past 10-15 years, possibly aided
by
(but by no means rooted in)
western anti-Islam rhetoric and paranoia.
